ghostorballoons asked: I think part of the problem is that one of the few narratological lines sci-fi writers are afraid to cross is the "meddling with time is always bad" thing. Whatever they change, no matter how good intentioned, always winds up causing some kind of dystopia-- writers either need to get over the dystopia boner of a jaded, cynical genre, which they're too lazy to do, or write a story where stopping slavery is "bad", which would be tasteless (which GoT will get into in a little while).
